Opened: Jun 04, 2019

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

AAM/WAM provides an option to combine several CSS or JS files into a single resource using a WA concatenation option. When the URL is parsed, it combines host and port parts of the URL into a single clause. However, when the resource is being fetched, the operation uses a hostname header, which does not include the port number. This results in stripping the port from the URL along with a char in a hostname, ultimately causing the request to fail.

Impact

The BIG-IP system returns an empty CSS resource, resulting in improper page rendering (lacking CCS) or unexpected application behavior (for JS).

Conditions

Combined host and port parts of the URL.
