The Burst Size setting is intended to specify the maximum number of bytes that traffic is allowed to burst beyond the base rate configured for the rate class. When the burst rate is set to zero, no bursting is allowed. In this release, the Burst Size setting has no effect, even though neither the GUI nor tmsh prevent you from configuring.
Traffic does not burst beyond the base rate configured for the rate class. In the case of hierarchical rate classes, the BIG-IP may temporarily fail to process traffic.
This occurs when attempting to use the burst setting in the following BIG-IP software versions, and later: -- 13.0.0 through 188.8.131.52 -- 12.1.2 through 184.108.40.206 -- 11.5.5 through 11.5.9 -- 220.127.116.11 through 18.104.22.168
