Last Modified: Jul 12, 2023

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP Install/Upgrade, TMOS(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
15.0.0, 15.0.1, 15.0.1.1, 15.0.1.2, 15.0.1.3, 15.0.1.4

Fixed In:

Opened: Aug 08, 2019

Severity: 2-Critical

Symptoms

After upgrading to v15.0.x, the system cron daemon is not running, which causes periodic system operations not to run. This includes, but is not limited to: -- SSL/TLS ephemeral key generation. -- Log rotation. -- SSL certificate.

Impact

The crond daemon is down, making any process dependent on crond to not work on the system: -- The SSL connection mirroring does not work as expected. -- Script scheduling does not work.

Conditions

Upgrade BIG-IP system from pre-v14.1.0 to 15.0.x.

Workaround

Enable and start crond: 1. systemctl enable crond 2. systemctl start crond

Fix Information

The system now ensures that the cron daemon (crond) is running consistently after upgrades.
