Last Modified: Oct 12, 2023

Affected Product(s):
BIG-IP AVR(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
14.1.2, 14.1.2.1, 14.1.2.2, 14.1.2.3, 14.1.2.4, 14.1.2.5, 14.1.2.6, 14.1.2.7, 14.1.2.8, 14.1.3, 14.1.3.1, 14.1.4, 14.1.4.1, 14.1.4.2, 14.1.4.3, 14.1.4.4, 14.1.4.5, 14.1.4.6, 14.1.5, 14.1.5.1, 14.1.5.2, 14.1.5.3, 14.1.5.4, 14.1.5.6

Opened: Dec 03, 2019

Severity: 2-Critical

Symptoms

When a configuration which contains very large number of elements (for example several thousands of virtual servers) is applied to AVRD, the thread that consumes configuration starts running on ~100% CPU. This continues until all configuration elements are processed. The process of configuration processing at AVRD can take approximately 30 min. After that, AVRD returns to its normal CPU consumption.

Impact

AVRD consumes considerable amount of system resources for relatively long time.

Conditions

BIG-IP configuration contains very large number of virtual servers, pools etc. For example when this was encountered there were 7302 virtual servers and 8944 pool members.
