Bug ID 875461: On macOS Edge Client, resuming paused VPN fails when prompt for root password is cancelled during autoupdate.

Last Modified: Aug 14, 2023

Affected Product(s):
APM-Clients Install/Upgrade, TMOS(all modules)

Opened: Jan 31, 2020

Severity: 3-Major

Symptoms

- If user has previously skipped autoupdate of client when prompted and tries to resume paused VPN by clicking "Turn VPN On" and cancels the prompts for root password (due to autoupdate), VPN is not resumed. - Menu bar shows the error icon, i.e a red triangle with exclamation point. - Turn VPN Off button is greyed out.

Impact

- Paused VPN is not resumed. - User cannot click "Turn VPN Off" as that item is greyed out. - User has to quit Edge Client application and start it again or change the VPN server to get VPN connection.

Conditions

- macOS Edge Client version is lesser than the one available on the BIG-IP, which would trigger auto-update on connect. - User skips auto-update during initial connection, connects to VPN then clicks "Turn VPN Off". - User clicks "Turn VPN On", auto-update starts and user is prompted to provide root password for installation. User cancels these prompts

Workaround

- User has to quit Edge Client application and start it again or change the VPN server to get VPN connection.
