Bug ID 899017: Windows Edge Client is stuck on 'Checking Client...' for endpoint check when my.policy has an .svg image resource and IE cache is cleared.

Last Modified: Mar 30, 2024

Affected Product(s):
APM-Clients TMOS(all modules)

Opened: Apr 14, 2020

Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

-- If endpoint checks are configured in the Access Policy, Edge Client's browser control window seems to be stuck, showing 'Checking Client...' as the status. -- In some cases, the browser window is not even shown. Edge Client's main window shows 'Connecting to server...' status, and until you minimize and restore the main window, the browser control window is not shown. -- When the browser control window restores, it shows 'Checking Client...' as the status. -- Once the resources (including the .svg) are cached, next time you connect, page resources are loaded from cache and the policy works fine.

Impact

-- Endpoint check does not get executed and policy does not move forward. -- You must close the browser control window to disconnect and connect again. Even then, this works only if caching is enabled in Internet Explorer.

Conditions

-- Client-side endpoint checks configured in the access policy -- The my.policy has .svg image resource. -- Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) cache is cleaned up so that all the resources of the page need to be downloaded.

Workaround

-- Do not use .svg image resources in customization. Using .png instead of .svg works. -- Also to mitigate the issue, ensure that caching is enabled on Internet Explorer.
