Symptoms

If you are creating a BIG-IQ data collection device (DCD) cluster and select the 'skip license' option, BIG-IQ returns an error similar to the following: [root@dcd-a:ModuleNotLicensed:LICENSE INOPERATIVE:Standalone] config # BIG-IQ also logs messages similar to the following: -- emerg mcpd[4867]: 01070608:0: License is not operational (expired or digital signature does not match contents).

Impact

The system posts a License Inoperative message and reports periodic error message. The device functions normally as a DCD or license manager as selected in the initial setup steps.

Conditions

Choosing the skip license option in initial setup and complete the setup.

Workaround

None. Although BIG-IQ displays License Inoperative and reports periodic error messages, these are cosmetic only, and you can safely ignore them. BIG-IQ functions as expected.
