Opened: Jun 30, 2020

Severity: 4-Minor

Symptoms

The Nokia NetAct database on the BIG-IP system may contain events that do not get cleared. This may be due to more than one trap being issued for an event and only one trap getting cleared for that event. For example, error thresholds that continue to climb may generate more than one trap but only the last one clears. In addition, there are traps that do not have corresponding clear events.

Impact

Some events are not removed after the alarm condition clears. This may cause confusion, and uncleared events may be overwritten.

Conditions

-- Nokia NetAct is enabled. -- Alarm conditions occur.

Workaround

The alert_nokia.conf file controls handling of these events. Set to the WARN (4) level any trap that you do not want remaining in the database. Traps configured for the WARN (4) level are not written to the database. Note: A failover event causes the database to be cleared automatically, as does restarting the alert daemon.
