Last Modified: Apr 28, 2025

Affected Product(s):
APM-Clients APM(all modules)

Known Affected Versions:
7.2.1

Fixed In:
7.2.2, 7.2.1.1

Opened: Nov 24, 2020

Severity: 2-Critical

Symptoms

Edge Client has an Always Connected mode that can restrict internet access while the VPN is disconnected. Edge Client uses status information from the macOS operating system to determine when to activate this traffic-blocking feature. Recent Apple updates to all versions of MacOS have changed how this status is presented to third party software, causing Edge Client to mistakenly allow internet access while the VPN is disconnected.

Impact

The end user client might be allowed to access the internet while the VPN is disconnected, when that action should be restricted.

Conditions

Always Connected mode is used on MacOS.

Workaround

None.

Fix Information

Always Connected now restricts internet access upon MacOS startup in the manner that is expected.
